This policy explains what personal information SmarterKit collects, why, and your rights under UK data protection law (UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018). The data controller is the owner of SmarterKit, contactable at hello@smarterkit.co.uk.
What we collect
- Analytics data (only if you accept analytics cookies): pages visited, approximate location, device and browser type. We use this to see which guides are useful.
- Email address (only if you sign up to our newsletter): used to send you the newsletter. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in every email.
- Messages you send us: kept only as long as needed to reply.
Cookies
When you first visit, a banner asks for your consent. Essential cookies that make the site work are always on. Analytics and marketing cookies are only set if you agree, and you can change your choice at any time using the cookie settings link at the bottom of every page.
Affiliate links: when you click an affiliate link, the retailer or affiliate network (for example Amazon, Awin, Webgains or PartnerStack) may set its own cookie on its website so it can tell that you came from SmarterKit. Those cookies are covered by the retailer’s or network’s own privacy policy.
Who we share data with
We use trusted service providers to run the site: our web host (Hostinger), our email newsletter provider and, if you consent, our analytics provider. We don’t sell your personal data.
Your rights
You can ask to see, correct or delete the personal data we hold about you, or object to how we use it, by emailing hello@smarterkit.co.uk. If you’re unhappy with how we handle your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk.
