How We Research

We want every SmarterKit guide to save you time and be honest about where its information comes from. Here’s how we put them together.

Research roundups (not tested by us)

Most guides are research roundups. For each product we look at:

  • Expert tests from independent reviewers and labs that measure performance.
  • Owner reviews from UK buyers, looking for patterns across many reviews rather than single comments.
  • Manufacturer specs such as suction power, desk height range or plan limits.
  • Forum and community discussion, which often reveals long-term problems that launch reviews miss.
  • UK prices and availability, because a great product you can’t buy here isn’t much use.

These guides carry a clear label at the top: “We haven’t tested these models ourselves.” We link to or name the sources we relied on, and we summarise them in our own words. We never copy reviews or present other people’s experiences as our own.

Hands-on reviews

When we, or a guest tester we name, have used a product, the guide says who used it, for how long and what they tested. We don’t publish hands-on claims without that.

Keeping guides up to date

Prices and models change often. Each guide shows the date it was last updated, and we review our main guides regularly to check prices, links and new models.

Independence

We may earn a commission from some links, but that never decides what we recommend or how we rank products. Brands can’t pay for a place in a guide. Read our affiliate disclosure.
